Valencia Basket opens the Copa del Rey Badalona'23 against Real Madrid
Valencia Basket opens the Copa del Rey Badalona'23 by facing Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the KO tournament (Thursday 16, 6:30 p.m., Palau Olímpic, #Vamos) with the complicated challenge of trying to knock out for the first time in this competition (has lost in the four previous clashes) to a team that also arrives with the best open streak in national competition.
To try to eliminate a rival who has played in the last nine finals of this competition in the first round, Álex Mumbrú's men will have the support of more than 400 Taronja fans in the stands of the Badalona Olímpic.
The Taronja team comes to the dispute for the first title of the season also in good form, with nine wins in their last twelve games, and two wins in the week before the tournament.
In a game in which captain Bojan Dubljevic can match Víctor Luengo as the player with the most appearances in the Copa del Rey as a taronja, up to five members of Valencia Basket could debut in this competition.
The Taronja expedition has sent thirteen players to Badalona, with power forward James Webb III questionable for the game due to an injury to the chondrocostal joint and forward Xabi López-Arostegui a little bit weakened after having been ill in recent days.
